For many decades Argentina have been hot destinations for Anglers worldwide, made famous by beautiful scenery, untouched rivers and lakes, and a great variety for both fly and spin fishermen targeting Rainbow, Brown and Brook Trout, as well as the famous "Sea-run" Trout and Salmon.
The beautiful fishery Alerces Park, is set amongst forest and mountain vistas offering lake, river and spring creek fishing from December through May. Peak season for dry fly, especially in the lakes, is January to late March with fantastic opportunities also in the spring creeks using small nyphs and wets.
The accommodation is a magnificent wooden lodge with all the usual luxuries, famous for local Argentine dishes which consist mainly of tender world famous beef from the Pampas farming region and mouth watering deserts for those not worried about the waist line! International dishes also serve all palates with local vegetarian and fruit plates served straight from local market gardens.
Another great option at Lago Puelo is the "Salmon Camp" for those wanting a more rustic, Andean experience.
About a 3 hour horseback ride (or 45 minute boat) from the main lodge is the Camp, set on the banks for the river amongst the forest. At different times from December to May the Salmon run straight past the camp topping 25lbs and destroying fishing gear for the unsuspecting angler. Monster Browns and Rainbows are also bagged at the Camp and make a great combination package with the Lodge.
