 ‘Kids Fishing’ Clinics

Fishabout have put aside some ’Kids Fishing’ dates for the September school holidays. ’Kids Fishing’ is designed to give both you and your children an introduction to wonderful world of fishing!

Our ’Kids Fishing’ program is not about catching the biggest fish! It’s all about maximising the action & giving your kids the opportunity to hook as many fish as possible, whilst learning about safe fishing practices and the ecology of our precious waterways.

As a parent you can choose to fish or you can simply tag along & help out (at no extra cost). Who knows you might even learn something yourself!

All of our ’Kids Fishing’ Adventures are terrestrially based (ie. on land, rather than from a boat). We have selected our tides & locations to maximise the action whilst ensuring that your childs fishing experience is in relative safety & comfort.

FAQ’s
:

1. How are the Safety concerns addressed?
We insist that all children are accompanied by an adult, irrespective of age. As a parent you have the option of leasing one of the 6 rods or you can simply tag along & share the experience with your child (at no cost). Hooks can be dangerous, particularly when casting.  In order to minimise the risk of accidents our Guide will ensure that all anglers are appropriately spaced & that any non-fishing observers are at a safe distance. Our Guide carries a basic First Aid Kit and in the event of any small cuts or abrasions, he will be able to treat you on the spot.

2. What happens if I snag/break my line?
We understand that fishing with kids isn’t always seamless & on occasion problems may occur.  But don’t worry, we always bring additional rods and in the event that you do run into trouble we will give you a new rod to maximise the time your bait is in the water.

3. Can we keep the fish that we catch?
Although our preference is to catch and release, if you do catch a fish & it is above the legal size limit then by all means keep it!

4. Is there an opportunity to use my own fishing rod?
No, we provide all the equipment that you need. We have configured the rods and reels to suit you the user and we can’t be responsible for gear that we don’t know or have an idea of its service history.

5. What happens after I have made my booking?
Our reservations desk will give you a call 24hrs before your excursion, confirm the time and location and give you the Guide’s contact details should you need them.

6. What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel 2 days before your excursion we will refund you 100% of your payment. All cancellations must be made during office hours. Any cancellations within 2 days of your excursion will not be refunded.

7. What happens if I have two children that would like to fish on the same day that are different ages (ie. 7 & 14 years)?
No problem at all, they can fish on the same day.  The age groups are indicative only.  However we would recommend targeting the older age bracket.
