The Tongariro Lodge is the one true “must go before you die” locations on the planet. Wild Rainbow and Brown Trout populations have thrived in the Lake Taupo system and a joining rivers to produce regular trophy Trout of more than 10lbs with an average of over 4lbs. Combine this world class fishing with 5 star lodge accommodation and home style cooking and you’ve got the perfect fly and spin fishing experience.

This season guided anglers at the Tongariro Lodge will fish over 30 rivers and streams and five lakes. Our expert guides provide a truly memorable trout fishing experience for both beginners and many of the world’s most avid and discerning anglers. The knowledge and expertise of Tongariro Lodge guides is unequalled. We run our own rafts, four wheel drive vehicles and boats, and have some of the best back country nymph and dry fly fishing for sighted browns and rainbows to be found anywhere. Our helicopter access options offer truly remarkable fishing, but are by no means necessary.

The main lodge has several dining options where exquisite world famous cuisines await you for Breakfast and Diner at your leisure, with hamper lunches made on request when out fishing. The accommodation is separate from the main lodge, and Untamed Tracks uses exclusively a newly built chalet that offers private, luxury lodgings after a hard day on the river.

The Tongariro lodge is situated on the shore of the Tongariro River, just down from Lake Taupo and is nestled on 22 acres of secluded grounds with mature gardens and trees surrounding the accommodation. Guests at Tongariro Lodge are able to choose from a diverse range of outdoor activities, such as golf, hiking, skiing in the winter, wine tours, a secluded spa and an all weather tennis.
