This 250,000 acre working cattle ranch is nestled on the Wyoming/Colorado border with the magnificent Little Snake River flowing straight through the heart of one of America’s last wild places.

The owner David Pratt and wife Flora set about in 2000 on a massive regeneration project on much of the properties river frontage reconstructing over 70 oxbows, water falls and deep pools, returning the river to a self-sustaining wild Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout fishery. The General Manager, Jay Linderman, has been responsible for much of the development at Three Forks and is one of the few remaining authentic Cowboy’s.

The elegance of Three Forks is unparalleled in the lower 48, with accommodation for 20 guests in twin share, 5 star rooms complete with on-suites, self-contained kitchens, lounge rooms and dining facilities. The accommodation is situated on the Three Forks Ranch Colorado USA

banks of the river, with sweeping lawns and a short walk to the main Lodge where three meals and beverages are served daily. There are also several smaller lodges situated around the property for those wanting seclusion in this vast wilderness.

Head chef Tom Wester serves up a smorgus board of entrée’s and mains with the house specialties being seared tuna, rack of lamb and rump steak – hearty meals for the tired angler. The food is incredible and don’t expect to lose weight at Three Forks!

Now the fishing – Three Forks is by far one of the best dry fly fisheries for wild trout anywhere in the lower 48. On any given day from June through October an intermediate angler can expect to have 20-30 dry fly takes. The daily hatch varies with the months and water levels, but the Little Snake is known for its massive “hopper”, pale morning dun and calabatus sessions. With 6 to 8 pound trout slurping down size 16 fly’s in 2 feet of water this place is a heart stopping experience, and the occasional 10-12 pound Hog that will earn you a place in the exclusive 25 inch club.

The guiding service is first rate, with head guide Duncan Draper running a very experienced and knowledgeable team catering for one guide per 2 anglers. The daily routine is breakfast at 7.00am with a morning fishing session 8.00am – 12.00am. Back for a BBQ lunch and short rest for the afternoon run usually 1.00pm – 5.00pm. Quick shower and back to the lounge room for drinks and hors-d’oeuvres, for a 7.00pm sit down dinner.

For the Hunter, Three Forks has some of the best Elk, Deer and Antelope hunting in the country, with regular 5*6 Bull Elk shot each season. The guiding service for hunters is first class with an early morning and evening hunt each day.

Three Forks also offers many activities for the non-fisherman or for someone needing a break from the river program. Horse riding, ATV rides, golf, hiking, clay shooting course, wildlife tours and massage therapy rounding off what is an amazing holiday.
