Its All About
Barra and Bluewater
As we wind down out of Run-Off mode over the past month it was time to focus on a bit of Bluewater & Barra.
John and I have just had an Amazing month fishing the Daly, the Finniss and a bit of Bluewater out off Dundee Beach in Fog Bay.
Chris Punch and his Father John and Ben Pearson spent a memorable 4 days with us in May fishing a mix a Barra and Bluewater at Dundee Beach in Fog Bay. We had a memorable session on the Bluewater out from Point Jenny on Spanish Mackerel to 15kg, spinning up Mack Tuna to 6kg and double hookups jigging for GT's and Tea Leaf Trevally.
The Barra fishing was excellent with 2 sessions casting the floodplains on the big tides landing big numbers of quality fish. John Punch who had not fished in 72 years landing the biggest Barra for the trip at 86cm.
Rob Clarke with his brothers in law John and Frank and his Father Brian also spent a great 4 days with us last month. Brian at 78 years of age showed up the young fella's with the most Barra, the largest Black Jewfish and going blow for blow on the Mackerel and Tuna. Check out the picture at the top of the article of Brian with his 1300mm Black Jewfish, it was an outstanding capture in anyone's book. Rob Clarke found himself on the end of a 1200mm black beauty as well (see pic below).

Our Barra & Bluewater trips are a great alternative to the run-off safaris if you are looking to mix up your fishing a bit and perhaps visit in the cooler months of May, June or July.
The Daly has been on fire now in dry season mode with double figure captures a regular event on our day trips and fish in the 80 to 95cm bracket a common occurrence.
The river is the best shape I have seen it for 10 years and we can expect great fishing over the next couple of seasons of the back of the big wet.
I had the pleasure of fishing the Barra Classic again this year as a member of the Daly Dogs team. Unfortunately we weren't able to repeat last years great result coming in at 15th, we had a melt down and choked on day 4 to put ourselves right out of contention. Hopefully we can have another crack next year!
